Owning and operating their own
businesses is a dream shared by many
people in this country. Unfortunately,
only about half of the people who dare
to act on that dream and start a small
business will succeed within five years.
At the Raleigh Business & Technology
Center, we measure success by our track
record of walking entrepreneurs through
sound business practices. Our 10-months-long
Pacesetters Program is designed to
help 100 percent of those dreamers
succeed by putting them on a fast track
to realizing their full potential. In
turn, it is expected that
these
businesses will create new jobs and
serve as role models for other
entrepreneurs
in the area.

The RBTC's
positive influence on economic growth in
the region is documentable. Through
Pacesetters, we have been able to expand
the "community" of dedicated and
financially viable entrepreneurs by
helping them become more adept in
business management, strategic planning,
financial forecasting and business
leadership.
This program was created for highly
motivated business owners with active
business operations that will support
future expansion and jobs. Additionally,
the program leverages collaborative
skills, technical resources and business
acumen toward community service
projects, especially those that will
benefit Southeast Raleigh.
Pacesetters Program benefits:
- Weekly, on-site training and
workshops
- Fellowship with a dynamic group
of self-empowering entrepreneurs
- Help with issues as complex as
financial management and as simple
as position descriptions
- A laptop computer and the skills
needed to use it for the duration of
the program
- A regular dose of sound
financial management skills from our
banking partners
- Interactive weekend retreats
- Interaction with local
politicians and state
representatives
- Periodic community networking
events
The Pacesetters program is sponsored
by the Southeast Raleigh Assembly and
funded by the City of Raleigh, the North
Carolina Department of Transportation,
the Capital Area Workforce Development
Board and others.
